A British solar energy firm is looking to encourage UK homeowners to embrace energy-saving technology by installing free photovoltaic panels across the country.
HomeSun has stated that it will install ?1 billion worth of free solar panel installations over the next three years, with around 2.5 million homes set to be eligible.
The company will then be able to recoup the outlay by collecting money from the governments feed-in tariff scheme, which allows solar energy to be sold back to the National Grid.
According to company boss Daniel Green, this scheme is designed to encourage take-up of renewable power and help the country to make up ground towards meeting EU carbon reduction targets.
He said: Germany provides 50 per cent of the worlds solar power, yet were nowhere. That is going to change. There is going to be a revolution and thats what excites me.
Earlier this month, the Press Association reported that the Prince of Wales is looking to further raise the profile of energy-saving technology by installing solar panels at his London home.
