Cooling module maker Forcecon Technology will start volume shipments of LED light bulbs through its invested subsidiary Ecomaa Lighting in the second half of 2010, while fellow maker Sunonwealth Electric Machine Industrial has developed a cooling fan for LED light bulbs with monthly shipments already reaching 400,000 units.
Forcecon currently has an around 50% stake in Ecomaa and all the LED light bulb components are manufactured by Forcecon with Ecomaa mainly in charge of marketing and design. Ecomaa is currently cooperating with Nichia, Cree and Harvatek for LED packaging; and has several clients worldwide.
Ecomaa expects its LED light bulb shipments to reach 200,000 units in 2010 with annual revenues to reach NT$200 million US$6.26 million helping the company to break even, it noted.
Meanwhile, with Sunonwealth's monthly LED cooling module capacity rising significantly from 200,000 units in March, the company expects shipments to turn strong in the second half of 2010, while it expects the product line to contribute 10% of its revenues in 2011.
As for it major business line, notebook cooling module, Forcecon remains conservative about performance in the third quarter since the company has not yet seen a significant sales improvement in July, plus increasing labor costs in China are devouring the company's profits. However, Sunonwealth expects its third quarter revenues to grow 15% sequentially as market demand will become stronger after August.
