Dayingjie Village is a small rural town with 600 years of history. It is situated in the southwestern corner of the Hongta District in Yuxi Municipality, which is 5 kilometers from central Yuxi City. The village committee administrates 3 villages with a total area of 2.6 square kilometers. The village committee has a population of 4876, with an arable land area of 1036 mu (69.06 hectares).
Dayingjie Village has a lot of titles, such as: The First Village in Yunnan , A Rural Model of Common Prosperity in China , National Civilization Town in Construction , National Advanced Unit in Spiritual Construction , Educational Base in Patriotism of Yunnan Province and so forth. At present, Dayingjie Village is developing steadily and often takes on new glamor which brings joy to the people. In 2006, the rural economic income reached RMB 2.321 billion yuan. Per capita net income of farmers reached RMB 11200 yuan. The transportation is very convenient in Dayingjie such as the broad streets and roads sided with green trees and blooming flowers.
People there live a happy life, with a per capita housing area of 60 square meters. Kindergarten is free. Students in the middle school, vocational secondary school, college or university are awarded scholarships. People can retire at 54 and get a monthly pension, ranging from RMB 250 yuan to RMB 660 yuan. The villagers under 54 enjoy endowment insurance.
