Six candidates were shortlisted after rounds of selections.
The Guangzhou Asian Games Organsing Committee (GAGOC) announced Friday the start of a selection contest at Guangdong TV Station and 28 young ladies chosen across the country vied for six berths who are eligible to receive trainings ahead of the Games and become the final ones to perform the flame-lighting ceremony of the 16th edition of the Asian Games.
As informed, the event was organised by the Torch Relay operation team under GAGOC, All-China Students Federation, Guangdong Provincial Committee of Communist Youth League of China and Students Federation of Guangdong Provcince.
After rounds of selections, each province, autonomous region and municipality directly under the central government within China sent one student from each region respectively to participate in the Friday competition.
At the selection contest held on September 17
Competition segments included the costume presentation, guesture presentation and quick questions &answensers on the Asian Games and Asian Games flame from the evaluation panel. Six candidates were shortlisted and they were Wei Xueyang from Hubei Province; Tang Lu from Jilin Province; Chen Xi from Guangdong Province; Yang Chan from Shanghai; Kang Chenchen from Yunan Province and Chu Xiumanfrom Shanxi Province.
The six candidates will attend trainings courses in Beijingahead of the Games. Only after the training will finalists be selected to ignite the Asian Games flame at the lighting ceremony for the 16th Asian Games.
