A bus traveling from Guangzhou City to Guanlan in Bao an District suddenly caught fire at the Guanlan Tollgate on Meiguan Expressway yesterday.
The fire lasted for about 30 minutes and a tollgate booth was also burnt, a witness told the Shenzhen Daily. According to the driver, surnamed Long, thick smoke was first seen coming from the engine at the back of the bus before it burst into flames. No one was injured.
The fire caused damage estimated at 500,000 yuan (US$73,530) to the bus and the tollgate booth.
Police are investigating.
