South China's Guangdong Province saw its exports rise 34.7% year on year to US$42.1 billion in August, according to the latest statistics from the Guangdong Customs.
The province's import and export value totaled US$71.64 billion last month, 33.5% more than that in the same month of last year.
In the first eight months of this year, Guangdong's foreign trade jumped 32.5% year on year to US$485.59 billion, accounting for 25.9% of the country's total trade value. The export value was US$278.14 billion during the period, up 28.6% year on year, and the import value surged 38.1% year on year to US$207.45 billion.
The province recorded a trade surplus of US$70.69 billion in the first eight months.
During the period from January to August, the province's exports of mechanical and electronics products, rose 30% to US$192.63 billion, accounting for nearly 70% of the province's total exports. There was an increase of more than 20% in the exports of garments and footwear, and an increase of more than 30% in the exports of furniture and toys.
