Peking University, Nov 9: Selected papers of Beijing Forum will be open online to the public free of charge, according to the Organizing Committee of Beijing Forum.
Peking University has agreed with ScienceDirect, a leading academic database online, to publish the electronic version through its network starting from this year.
Co-sponsored by Peking University, Beijing Municipal Commission of Education and the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies, Beijing Forum is an annual international event with the general theme The Harmony of Civilizations and Prosperity for All . Since 2004, it has endeavored to contribute to the peace, development and prosperity of humankind through promoting the academic achievements of humanities and social sciences of diverse cultures and communities across the world.
With the theme of The Harmony of Civilizations and Prosperity for All: Looking Beyond the Crisis to a Harmonious Future , the 6th Beijing Forum (Nov. 6-8, 2009) attracted more than 300 leading experts and scholars from over 40 countries and regions, who participate in in-depth and intensive dialogues on the issue of crisis and response. The 5 panel sessions invited scholars discussions from economic, political, cultural, historical and educational perspectives.
Beijing Forum has not only drawn international attention from the academic fields, but also made considerable social significance and attracted public interest.
The platform for the selected papers, ScienceDirect, is one of the largest online collections of published scientific research in the world. Produced by Elsevier, it contains over 9.6 million articles from over 2500 journals, including titles such as The Lancet and Cell, and over 6,000 e-books, reference works, book series and handbooks.
The online edition of selected papers of Beijing Forum 2007 is already available at its official website, www.beijingforum.org.
