Peking University, Mar. 15, 2011: Professor John Rosenberg, deputy vice chancellor and vice president (International and Development) of La Trobe University, Australia, visited Peking University (PKU) with his entourage on March 10, 2011. Professor Wu Zhipan, executive vice president of PKU, gave a warm reception to the guests at Linhuxuan.
The main aim of the visit by Professor Rosenberg was to promote communications in humanities, business, education, engineering, and medical science between the two universities. As he pointed out, with the increasing popularity of Chinese culture across Australia, students there were looking forward to sharing their research experiences with their peers in renowned Chinese universities. Consequently, he proposed a two-year double degree project for postgraduates from La Trobe and PKU. According to a following plan, a delegation of La Trobe researchers, including those engaged in biotechnology, government management, economics and mathematics, will visit PKU this September.
To extend a welcome to Professor Rosenberg, Professor Wu made a brief introduction on PKU's traditionally dominant subjects, as well as the recent progresses on the quality of education and scientific researches. Well recognizing the potential benefits of further communications and cooperation between the two universities, he expected a wider bridge of academic collaboration and full-blown friendship in the future.
