On November 30 2009, investors and analysts tasted fresh corn and learned about organic fertilizers in a visit to the Zhaoan vegetable production base of Chaoda Modern Agriculture (Holdings) Limited.
The Zhaoan base, located in the Southern Fujian Province, is one of Chaoda's key winter farming locations. Established in 2001, the base is 8,000 mu in area and is located on China's fertile southeast coast.
Mr. Wang Longwang, Head of Chaoda's Production Base Department, briefed tour participants on the Chaoda operational model, reviewing Chaoda's approach to site selection, infrastructure investment, production management, cultivation and agricultural science.
Among the topics covered, the visitors expressed particular interest in the use of organic fertilizers. These are used at the Zhaoan and other Chaoda production bases to improve soil content, accelerate the breakdown of biological compounds, and improve crop resistance.
The visit coincided with the sweet corn and water melon harvest seasons. The visitors tasted the water melon and the sweet corn raw in order to savour its freshness.
There were more than ten participants in the field trip to Zhaoan organized by Daiwa Securities, a leading Japanese brokerage and research house.
