Fuzhou, July 9, 2010 - "we will never stand by idly when a neighbor is in trouble," Chaoda Chairman Kwok Ho said as he presented a check for RMB 10 million to help rehabilitate areas of northern and western Fujian that were recently devastated by floods. Chairman Kwok's gift, a personal donation, came on top of RMB 1.5 million in philanthropy from the Chaoda Group. The funds will be used to rebuild agricultural infrastructure and help restore agricultural production in the affected regions.
Chairman Kwok said: "As a Group, we will do our best to help the flood victims return to normal lives."
Zhang Changping, vice governor of Fujian and a member of the Fujian Provincial Communist Party Committee, accepted Mr. Kwok's donation on behalf of the flood victims. He praised Chaoda's efforts on behalf of the flood victims, describing the company as a leader in both agricultural industrialization and corporate social responsibility. "In the wake of the very serious flooding we experienced in the province, Chaoda demonstrated its philanthropic credentials by making these donations to help flood victims get back on their feet."
The donations from the Chaoda Group went to the Fuzhou Charity Federation and the Fujian Province Youth Development Foundation, which will manage distribution of the funds.
The highest concentration of Chaoda's production bases is in Fujian Province, as a platform for the Group's national and global expansion. Because of this history, Chairman Kwok said that he felt particular responsibility when any part of the province was in trouble.
