Panel Display Industry Eager for More Help

"The strategic position of flat panel display industry has not been given sufficient attention." CPPCC member, president of the Chinese Physical Society Liquid Crystal Branch and Chinese Academy of Sciences academician Ouyang Zhongcan told reporters the urge to give more attention to flat-panel display industry, and asked for support of independent innovation development of China's flat panel display business.
The reality is that the giants overseas have a virtual monopoly on the current TFT-LCD industry's core technology and most of the shipments.
Although China's TFT-LCD industry is catching up, but with such a late start, small scale and less competitiveness in the industrial system and talent, the industry in mainland China still has a long way to go.
Meanwhile, the global giants attack on the Chinese market has been heating up. The capital and technology-intensive characteristics determine that the flat panel display industry should take the way of independent innovation and receive supports from the society.
Ouyang Zhongcan said that in the CRT era, China's color TV industry has fewer patents on the core components and controlled by others for many years. "The TFT-LCD industry can not let those tragedies happen again."
