Recently, Beijing Keju New Chemical Material Co., Ltd. (Yantai Wanhua Research Institute in Beijing) won a special honor for its water-based polyurethane project. At the 2009 Annual Conference on water-based polyurethane (WPU), a thesis entitled Research and Application of MDI WPU from Beijing Keju won the Second Prize for Excellent Paper of the Annual Conference.
More than 200 delegates from over 10 universities and research institutions across China as well as from dozens of well-known companies both at home and abroad engaged in development, production and marketing of water-based polyurethane participated in the Annual Symposium. Numerous research institutes and production units still showed their enthusiasm for the water-based resin / coating sector even in the growing global financial crisis, indicating its good momentum of development.
The Annual Symposium adopted 20 out of the 54 relevant technical papers for presentations and communications accompanied by three different prizes. The paper "Research and Application of MDI Water-based Polyurethane" written by the WPU Project Team from Beijing Keju offered a systematic solution to the existing problems during polyurethane production such as high material cost, high toxicity and great harm to operating personnel with regard to chemical reaction kinetics, process conditions of emulsion synthesis, and product performance control. The paper also came up with a new technology to produce the water-based polyurethane with MDI-50, which will be of great significance for the sustained development of this industry in future. Highly recognized by both experts and delegates alike, this paper won the Second Prize. This award proves the strong scientific research ability of Beijing Keju on WPU Project, and opens up new areas for the application of polyurethane as well.
