On May 24, the project of "Technology Optimization of YCF No.1 PTA Equipment" passed the appraisal of experts organized by the China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (CPCC). The technology of "dynamic adjustment to cycling rate of oxidation fluid" in the project optimized the operation, strengthened the controllability of product quality, lowered the consumption of vinegar acid and saved nearly 10-million worth of catalyzer every year.

The "PTA Advanced Controlling (APC) System" greatly lowered the fluctuation range of the key controlled unit of the main equipment, reinforced the control over the process, improved the product quality, and raised the rate of A grade PTA products to 99.

The project of "Technology Optimization of YCF No.1 PTA Equipment" was a key technology development project listed by the CPCC in 2003. To solve the problem of the No.1 equipment's insufficient capability of process control, deep research was conducted on the equipment under the preconditions of quality insurance, no additional investment and stable production guarantee.
By improving the running rate of the equipment, prolonging annual operation time and reasonably using energy, the rational output increase technology lines were found through technology optimization and development of the advanced control (APC) technology. Production of PTA with stable quality was guaranteed under heavy load.
In July 2004, the pass of 72-hour test showed that the bottleneck was eliminated through optimizing the running and collocation of equipment. The production capability and consumption of the equipment reached the objectives stipulated in the contract. In 2004, the No.1 equipment ranked the first in the contest of similar CPCC equipment.
The appraisal commission unanimously agreed that the PTA optimization technology developed in the project is advanced, practical, economic, and has significant social benefits. The technology reached the international advanced level. They all recommended the industry to popularize and promote it.
