FEELING FOR AND SUPPORTING YUSHU WITH LOVE

At 7:49 on April 14, 2010, an earthquake of magnitude 7.1 occurred in Yushu, Qinghai province, causing serious loss of life and property to the local people. The CPC Central Committee and State Council attached great importance to the disaster immediately after the earthquake. General Secretary Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao made important instructions and went to visit the disaster-affected areas to guide disaster relief work. National earthquake disaster emergency rescue teams had rushed to the disaster-stricken regions to search and rescue the survival and provide medical services for them. Currently, the disaster relief work is underway.

A brother or sister in trouble, all his or her relatives will come to offer help. On April 19, the university CPC committee called on her faculty, especially cadres and CPC members, to respond to the Central CPC s and State Council's calling for immediate action to extend helping hands and donate money, thus to help the earthquake-stricken people relive from the disaster. The Department of Students Affairs, University Youth League, Students Union and Graduates Union also took timely actions, calling for all college students to join hands and try their utmost to help our folks, brothers and sisters in the disaster-affected regions overcome difficulties and rebuild their home.

In the morning of April 19, the CPC Committee of University Administrative took initiatives to have set up a donation box in the 9th floor of the Liberal Arts Building. University leaders take the lead to donate, and the administrative cadres and the staff members also took part in the donation activity. Till 6 pm, more than 100 people had attended the event to show their love to Yushu, and the donations amounted to 32,150 RMB yuan. In the morning of April 20, the CPC Committee of the Department of Logistics also held a donation activity, and all the party members participated.

All teachers and students of the university have been taking timely action to donate for the disaster-stricken regions, sharing troubles with the affected people and helping them recover from the disaster. At present, the activity of showing love keeps going.
