May - 13 Sino-Japan Communication Group of Faculty of Asian Languages and Cultures, together with Guangzhou Japanese Woman's Association, hold a Japanese Dragon Boat Festival. The students played paper folding and practiced Japanese with the Woman's Association members.

May - 14 In the Faculty of Chinese Languages and Cultures a football game took place between international students from MTCSOL (Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages) Education Center and students from Department of TCFL (Teaching Chinese As a Foreign Language). The international students were from Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and Japan.

May - 18 Vice President of South China Agricultural University, Mr. Liao Ming, visited GDUFS to have a research on international education. President Zhong Weihe received him in the company of Mr. Jiao Fangtai, Director of International Office and Mr. Liang Xuehong, Dean of Institute of Education for International Students. Both sides exchanged their ideas on international education cooperation.

May - 18 GDUFS teachers and administrative staff had donated a total of RMB 243719.4 to earthquake area in Yushu County, Qinghai. The donations were sent to Guangdong Charity Federation.

May - 20 Mr. Hiraizumi Wataru, head of Kashima Institute of Peace in Japan, together with members from Kajima Corporation visited GDUFS, discussing with GDUFS scholars on some issues between Japan and China. They were accompanied by Tian Peiliang, Vice Secretary of Foreign Affairs Institute and Zhou Jianxiong, officer of Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office. The talk was chaired by Vice President Gu Yeli.
