lMarch-17 A meeting focusing on foreign cooperation and exchange work in the new semester was held today. Vice President Zhong Weihe, and Director of the International Exchange Department, Jiao Fangtai, participated in the meeting. Zhong Weihe stressed the importance of developing GDUFS into a high-level international teaching and research center. Jiao Fangtai also took some time to brief the main points of the work to be done in the new semester.

March-18 The first meeting of the 7th Executive Director Council of College Newspaper Researching Institution was held at GDUFS. Director of the Ideological and Political Office, Yuan Benxin, and nearly 30 executive directors from colleges and universities in Guangdong Province took part in the meeting. They voted to adopt the new committee. Jin Yaoguan, Deputy Secretary of GDYFS Party Committee, was selected as president. In the meeting, Yuan Benxin said there are things to be learnt from American college newspapers which are substantial and abundant, while Jin Yaoguan emphasized the importance of communication among colleges.

l March-18 The opening ceremony of the 5th Post-graduate Academic and Cultural Festival was held in Octagon Lecture Hall in the South Campus. Deputy Secretary of School Party Committee Chen Jianping, Vice President Shi Youkai, and the Director of the Post-Graduate Department, Zeng Yongqiang, attended the ceremony. Post-graduates from the CPC Provincial Party School and representatives from eight brother schools also took part in the ceremony and gave their congratulations. In the ceremony, Professor Chen delivered a speech. The video hall was set in the north campus so that students in both campuses were able to watch the ceremony simultaneously.

lThe forth excellent journals election activity in Guangdong Province recently finished. "Modern Foreign Language" a journal from GUDFS, won a nomination for Best Journal.
