lThe 2009 10K Nike Human Race in Guangzhou set out from the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Centre on October 24th. About 3000 teachers and students from GDUFS took part in the race which spanned four continents and involved more than thirty cities. Guangzhou was the only city in mainland China to participate in this event.
lCCTV Cup English Speaking Contest selective trials for Guangdong university students, including semi-finals and finals, were held in the Guangdong University of Business Studies on October 24th. Zhang Xiaojie a second year student from GDUFS?School of English for International Studies, was awarded first prize.
lThe living area on GDUFS south campus has been enclosed with wired nets since the middle of October. This has been part of an effort to help reinforce security and bring down the number of burglaries.
lThe GDUFS volunteer training project for overseas Confucius Institute launching ceremony was held on October 28th. In attendance were International Office Director Jiao Fangtai and Deputy Director Liang Jie. GDUFS has now established three overseas Confucius Institutes in Japan, Russian and Peru.
lOn October 28th, Professor Ma Mingda from JinanUniversity lectured on "Sinology Heat and the Revival of Chinese Culture" on GDUFS north campus, in which he shared a unique perspectives on restructuring modern sinology. The lecture was well received by GDUFS students.
