lA delegation of 43 educators from the National University of Jakarta visited GDUFS north campus on May 22 to exchange information and discuss cooperation. GDUFS vice-president, Professor Lian Jianda, welcomed the guests.
lGDUFS vice-president, Professor Wang Youqi, visited three schools in Chile from May 10 to 16: St. Thomas University, Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola, and Santa Maria Catholic University. After exchanging information and discussing further cooperation with school leaders, Professor Wang visited GDUFS exchange students now studying in Chile.
lThe 2009 Guangzhou Collegiate Singing Contest for Foreign Students was held at GDUFS on May 20. More than 100 foreign students from over 50 countries and territories, studying in 11 different universities, competed. The event promotes contact between students from different cultural backgrounds.
lShi Yanda, a GDUFS student from the Faculty of Asian Languages and Cultures, who is currently studying at I-Shou University in Taiwan, participated in the Taiwan Collegiate Japanese Language Debating Competition, where he helped I-Shou University finish in the top six and attracted the attention of TVBS television station for an interview.
lGDUFS men's volleyball team won second prize at the 2009 Guangdong Men's Volleyball League Finals held at Sun Yat-sen University on May 22.
