SIFT Students Awarded O Melveny Legal Scholarships

The award ceremony of the O Melveny Legal Scholarship Awards was held in the Davos Hall of Swissotel Grand Hotel on September 28th 2009. Present at the ceremony were senior partners of O Melveny & Myers Law Firm, law experts and professors, and some previous awards holders. Chen Jingying, dean of the Law School of SIFT, and Ni Shoubin, deputy dean, also attended the ceremony.

3 graduates and 3 undergraduates from the Law school of SIFT won the 2009 awards, with the first prize given to Fu Jun and Yu Miao, the second prize to Zheng Qi and Yuan Jin, and nomination awards to Qin Yu and Li Zhong.

One of the largest comprehensive law firms in the world, O Melveny & Myers Law Firm is among the Top Ten firms in the US and ranks the first in the Asian-Pacific region. The firm started their scholarship program in Shanghai in 1998, granting scholarships to outstanding junior undergraduates and second-year graduates in the Law School of SIFT, Fudan University School of Law, and East China University of Political Science and Law.

This program aims at encouraging law students in China to commit themselves to the study and research of law, cultivating law professionals, helping the scholarship holders with their future planning by giving them advice about study and career.
