Slovenia Ljubljana Confucius Institute officially established

On May 26th, The Slovenia Ljubljana Confucius Institute was officially established in the University of Ljubljana. Almost 200 people attended the grand ceremony, including the first lady of Slovenia, Yang Jianzhong from the Chinese embassy to Slovenia, officials from the Foreign Ministry of Slovenia, representatives from Shanghai Educational Committee, SIFT vice president Xu Xiaowei, Du?an Mramor, dean of the Faculty of Economics of Ljubljana University and people of goodwill to China.

The Ljubljana Confucius Institute is jointly established by SIFT and the Faculty of Economics of Ljubljana University. It is the 284th Confucius Institute in the world as well as the 3rd Business Confucius Institute after that of London and Copenhagen.

Vice president Xu Xiaowei reviewed the two sides joint efforts to establish the Confucius Institute in the ceremony and introduced the history, characteristics, advantages and prospect of SIFT. She said that the two universities would yield even more fruits in cooperation in education, economy, culture and other fields after the establishment of the Ljubljana Confucius Institute.

Dean Du?an Mramor of the Faculty of Economics said that as a big country with profound culture, China is enjoying increasing popularity in the world thanks to the establishment of Confucius Institutes and he sincerely hoped that the Slovenia Ljubljana Confucius Institute could serve as an important bridge connecting the two countries in fields of trade, culture and education.

Wang Guanglin, dean of School of Languages, Qiu Guixi, dean of School of International Studies, Zhao Hongjun, deputy dean of International Business School and Ye Rong, head of the Center for Studies of Chinese as a Second Language were also present at the ceremony.
