A Delegation of EU Transculture Institute Paid a Visit

On the afternoon of March 6, 2007, a delegation of EU Transculture Institute visited our university. The members of this delegation include Alain le Pichon, the professor of Universit de Paris VIII, the executive president of the Institute, a famous transcultural movement planner and a well-known anthropologist, Tinka Reichmann, the doctor of Saarland University, Balveer Arora and his wife and colleagues, the former being the director of the Institute s Base of India Studies of, a standing member of the Institute s Academic Committee, a famous politics expert and former president of Jawaharlal Nehru University, Cha InSuk, the president of UNESCO s Philosophy Department, a famous philosopher and the professor of Seoul National University, Huang Ping, the director of the Institute s Base of China Studies and also the director and researcher of the Institute of America Studies of China Academy of Social Sciences, and Zhao Tingyang, the deputy director of the Institute s Base of China Studies and a standing member of the Institute s Academic Committee and a researcher of the Institute of Philosophy of China Academy of Social Sciences.
First of all, Vice President Zhou Jianshe, on behalf of our university, gave these visitors a warm welcome and expressed his hope for deeper exchange and cooperation between our scholars and other domestic and foreign experts and the collaboration with the EU Transculture Institute and a construction of a platform for our international academic exchanges. Alain le Pichon, Balveer Arora, Cha InSuk and Tinka Reichmann separately introduced the origin, nature, structure of the EU Transculture Institute and its development in India and South Korea. Huang Ping and Zhao Tingyang reported the Institute s development in China. They welcomed the implementation of the transcultural movement in CNU and wished the CNU to evolve itself into an important force of transcultural study in China and even across the world. Ye Xianming, Wang Shuyin, Tao Dongfeng and Cheng Guangyun, on behalf of the Center of Globalization and Culture, College of Politics and Department of Philosophy respectively, expressed a warm welcome and a sincere wish of learning from and exchanging and cooperating with these distinguished visitors.
Finally, the Department of Philosophy formally appointed Alain le Pichon, Balveer Arora, Cha InSuk to professorship and Professor Cheng Guangyun, the dean of the Department of Philosophy awarded these three famous experts the letter of appointment.
