This Olympic Writing Competition was co-sponsored by the UNESCO and the CNU. Originally, this program intended to focus on the subject of China s representation at the Olympic Games and discuss issues such as humanistic Olympics, construction of UN value and world harmony and political significance of the Olympic Games. From December of the previous year to March, within a short period of 3 months, a total of 206 persons had submitted their writings. Participants include students from our 11 colleges and departments and other universities in Beijing, such as Beijing Language and Culture University. There were undergraduates and graduates, and Chinese students and foreign students. Under the subject of Beijing Olympic Games: Social, Political and Cultural Significance , students may freely choose a topic and each writing consisted of a Chinese and an English version. Five experts, after three rounds of review, finally chose 10 best writings, which were awarded and eventually will be published by the UNESCO and CNU.
This is an important activity held by the UNESCO and CNU for the Olympic Games 2008 and proves to be quite influential among university students in Beijing and very important and meaningful for the Olympic promotion.
