A Teaching Meeting Held to Further Improve Undergraduate Teaching

A teaching meeting was held from 17th to 18th in November. University leaders, heads from various departments and Colleges, principals of specialty construction, secretary of teaching affairs and chief of Organ Section all attended the meeting. The theme of this meeting was to earnestly summarize the 10th five-year, carefully plan the 11th five-year and further improve CNU s undergraduate teaching .
Vice President Gong Hui-li made a report titled with Earnestly Summarize, Carefully Plan and Further Improve Undergraduate Teaching . The report reviewed the results achieved during the 10th five-year, such as the implementation of article 45 and credit hour system, and analyzed problems existed and pointed out objectives, directions and key points for teaching affairs in the 11th five-year. Zhu Yi-xin from College of Mathematics, Li Song-lin from College l of Marxism Education, Zhao Yun-yun from College of Life Science, Kang Li-ying from College of Education Science, Zhou Yin-zhuang from Department of Chemistry, Wu Min-hua from College of Information Engineering, Tian Guo-xiu from College of Political Science and law and Zhou Shi-bin from College of Music also delivered their speeches and exchanged their teaching achievements and experience. On the meeting, participants hotly discussed the construction, development and planning of undergraduate specialty in the 11th five-year and the related measures of phase-2 teaching reform .
On 18 November, President Xu Xiang-yuan made a speech, emphasizing that the faculty should be responsible for the State, for the society and for every student and do their best to cultivate and improve undergraduate students. President Xu finally pointed out, CNU had made a good progress in 2006, the first year of the 11th five-year, and the university should take this opportunity to further improve the teaching and try to orient itself to both research and teaching and build itself into a top normal university in China.
