Recently, invited by ZHAO Wei, president of University of Macau (UM), LI Yuanyuan, president of SCUT, and HE Jingtang, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, went to Zhuhai and Macau to attend the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new campus of UM in Hengqin Island, Zhuhai, and the Cross-strait University Summit.

President LI Yuanyuan, as well as presidents of other first-class universities in mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, attended the Cross-strait University Summit which was sponsored by Macao SAR Government and organized by UM.

The new campus will be located on Hengqin Island, Zhuhai. The general planning and design of this new campus was undertaken by the Architectural Design & Research Institute of SCUT. After 9 months' hard work, the design team, led by architects including HE Jingtang, HUANG Jun and LIN Yan, accomplished the overall planning of the new campus and the architectural design of the library and teaching building complex.
