Levi's collaborates with three artists for Red Tab Tees

Write: Rawnie [2011-05-20]

Let the prints on your tees play up your personality! This fall/holiday, the Levi’s brand collaborates with three edgy artists to bring exclusively-designed tees for the Levi’s Red Tab collection. Irreverent, original and cool, these collaborations are a ‘fit to the tee’, embodying the essence of the Levi’s brand and echoing the spirit of the Levi’s wearer.
The three artists who have unleashed their creativity into prints are Skwak, Morning Heidi and Filip Pagowski from France, Hong Kong and US respectively.
“These outstanding artists come from different parts of the world and have their own unique inspirations, yet it is exactly their individualism that resonates perfectly with the brand. These artistic illustrations are a refreshing novel injection into our Levi’s Red Tab collection and we’re confident will be the rage among our youthful Levi’s fans this season,” said Agnes Tann, strategic brand planning director for the Levi’s brand, Asia Pacific Division based in Singapore.
Levi’s Brand X Skwak:
Skwak is an illustrator from Lille, north of France, who is well-known for ‘Maniac World’, his graphic creation of loony characters living daily routines with absurd exaggeration. The illustrations for this collaboration portray the eccentricity of this universe marrying the 80s New Wave theme. The result is a first tee collaboration of the season from the Levi’s brand that is a vibrant burst quirky exuberance reflecting the idealism and optimism of the Levi’s personality.
Levi’s Brand X Morning Heidi:
This collaboration with freelance designer Morning Heidi is specially for the ladies. Described as “half cat, half woman; but she’s not Catwoman”, Morning Heidi is recognized for the whimsical style manifested in her pencil drawings, the medium that she loves most.
In this collaboration, she has drawn inspiration from songs and artistes from the punk era, producing art that is punkish loud but with a touch of sweet femininity. Expect an explosive combination of bright candy-pop colors, swirls, waves, dots, hearts and flash bolts to make a screaming statement with this line.
Levi’s Brand X Filip Pagowski:
The last collaboration of the season is an effort between New York based Filip Pagowski and the Levi’s brand. Pagowski’s works -- childlike doodles painted with a touch of maturity -- are often viewed as a charming delivery of Mod.
For the Levi’s brand, Pagowski infuses this distinctive Mod style with Levi’s iconic red and blue applying his trademark poster strokes. Consisting of graphic symbols made of circles and spades and leggy characters in jeans and scooters, these modern and unconventional designs speak of stylish minimalism for the Levi’s fan.
All tops are made of 50% organic cotton and are available in short- and long-sleeved tees and as hoodies. The tops will also carry hangtags introducing each collaboration.
The Levi’s Red Tab collection featuring Skwak, Morning Heidi and Filip Pagowski is available in July, August/September and November respectively.
