Fashion doll Barbie is about to break though into the real fashion world. Spanish fashion firm Mango is joining forces with toy manufacturer Mattel to create a collection of Barbie T-shirts under the name Barbie by MNG Jeans.
Inspired by the style sense and iconic status of Barbie, Mango recreated her fashion giving it an air that is both cutting edge and casual. The collection presents t-shirts with various prints inspired by elements that are characteristic of the 50s, 70s and 80s. Mango aims at urban women aged 18 to 40 years.
According to Ninona Vila, Mango's PR Manager: This collaboration gives our company added value and a differentiating and surprise factor, since it offers our customers a new product associated with a traditional brand like BARBIE, which has been part of their childhood, as well as adding another design and trend to their wardrobes.
The worldwide launch of this collection will take place in the beginning of July 2008. The six models that make up the collection will be sold in virtually all the countries in which Mango is present, as well as in its online store. Over the previous financial year, Mango's turnover was 1.02 billion euros, which represents an increase in turnover of 8.2%.
