Colombia decide to limit China socks import with quota

Recently, It is known form Colombia embassy business affairs counselor department that Colombia government issue No.944 order which take effect since March.30,2006 to carry out 90days temporary quota management to import China sock.

The statistic from China custom show that in 2005, China export $1.66million socks to Colombia which is ranked 60th in China export market, decreased by 22.5%, account for 0.1% total sock export. In the meanwhile, export price--$0.1/pair, is 61% lower than global export unite price- $0.26/pair,decreased by 11.8%. China sock exported to Colombia decline generally while the sock in most enterprise including many new export one in 2005 exported to Colombia increase dramatically.

Among 12 provinces and cities export sock to Colombia, Guangdong is ranked first, its export reaching $0.615million, increased by207%, accounting for 36.9% of sock exported to Colombia. Besides, sock export in Heilongjiang, Hubei, Sicuan, Jiangsu and Shanxi also increase doubled.

There are 54 enterprises export sock to Colombia including 4enterprises whose export drop and other 50 ones whose export rise doubled. Main enterprise export to Colombia for the first time. The primary enterprise export reach $0.355million, increased by 115.1%,accounting for 21.3% of total export.
