DHAKA: A Bangladeshi exporter, Nasrin Zaman Knitwear Ltd., which got an export order of 50,000 pieces of T-shirts from a Chinese buyer while participating in a trade fair in Kunming last year, exported huge quantity of knitwear products to China; M Aminuzzaman, Managing Director of Nasrin Zaman Knitwear Ltd., aid here on April 10,

Aminuzzaman, said that Bangladeshi products have huge demand in China and the rate is also pretty good compared to the European markets. Ensuring 100 per cent guarantee of payment can boost our export to China many times.

T-shirts and some other items for the youths have more demand in China than Germany, the largest buyer of Bangladeshi knit products, he added.

Aminuzzaman said a ladys T-shirt, which is sold at US$ 10 in Europe, could be sold for Tk 2,000 in China.

Fazlul Hoque, president of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), said Bangladeshi Knitwear items have tremendous demand in China. "But we cannot concentrate to this market because we are already burdened with export orders from Europe and the US," he added.

Hoque said exporters have to build up their production capacities before going for the Chinese market, besides EU and US.
