USA : TMAG & R&A extend agreement for new Claret Jug apparel range

Write: Shane [2011-05-20]
adidas Golf (TMAG) is to work with The R&A, organizer of The Open Championship, in developing the new Claret Jug apparel range. The agreement extends through 2011 and was signed this week at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake, England.
Established over the last three years as "Preferred Apparel Supplier to The Open Championship," adidas Golf, under the new agreement, will work with The R&A to build a year-round customer base for Claret Jug apparel in approved outlets.
Using the Claret Jug and the storied history of The Open Championship as inspiration, adidas Golf created a special apparel range for 2006 called the Claret Jug Collection. Introduced in May, it can be seen and purchased at opengolf.com.
Each piece is subtly crested with an image of the Claret Jug. The Collection is targeted at golfers who love golf's rich history and traditions and who appreciate fine apparel.
"The R&A is widely respected for its long and wise governance of the game," said Kawaja, "which is why we are exceptionally proud of their decision to maintain adidas Golf as the Preferred Apparel Supplier to The Open Championship. The Claret Jug is the finest and most venerated trophy in the sport."
"It symbolizes the game's great history, great traditions and great champions. We're honored to have the privilege of creating apparel that will bear its image for the next five years."

"We are confident in our choice and look forward to working with adidas Golf in developing a branded apparel range for golfers that want a clear association with the oldest major championship in the game said Dawson.
adidas Golf makes golf apparel and footwear for athletes that combines advanced performance technologies, excellent comfort and contemporary styling, such as the popular ClimaCool line of apparel and Tour 360 golf shoe.
The R&A is golf's world rules and development body and organizer of The Open Championship. It operates with the consent of more 125 national and international, amateur and professional organisations, from over 110 countries and on behalf of an estimated 28 million golfers in Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific and The Americas (outside the USA and Mexico).
