Revel Industries, the San Francisco-based fashion collective, announced that it has acquired leading-edge menswear line Gytha Mander. Revel Industries will provide financial, operational and sales support to help the burgeoning line continue to grow and build its exposure.
Gytha Mander joins the nightlife apparel brand REVL and the satiric t-shirt line Headline Shirts in the Revel Industries family.
“We set out to help innovative and interesting fashion lines grow, and Gytha Mander is a quintessential example of what we stand for,” said Chris Gorog, president of Revel Industries. “This is a truly unique line that, with the right support base, has the potential to become a real force in boutique fashion.”
Gytha Mander (which means “a gift, from me” in Old English) was founded in 2004 by Casey Berman and designer Michael Phillips Moskowitz to create ready-to-wear apparel for men, distinguished by contemporary accents and elegant details. It has since earned a reputation as one of the most innovative lines on the market. Recently, Gytha Mander was named “Line of the Month” by Esquire UK and “Best of 2006” by SF Weekly.
Some of Gytha Mander’s trademark pieces include brilliant, multi-patterned silk ties, contrasting French-cuff dress shirts, and leather wallet holsters fashioned in the style of the old west.
“This is an exciting time for Gytha Mander,” said Berman. “We anticipate a very successful endeavor, and one that will further enhance the Gytha Mander brand.” Berman will now be vice president of corporate development for Revel Industries.
“For the first time, Gytha Mander has the opportunity to fully realize its vision,” said Moskowitz. “This season’s collection is our most ambitious to date, and there’s still much more to come. All of the pieces we’ve been dreaming about – everything from pants to cufflinks – we’ll now be able to produce.” Moskowitz will continue as creative director of Gytha Mander.
