Queensland Cotton shareholders have been urged to accept a takeover offer by global agricultural group OLAM.

The Singapore-based company has offered $4.75 a share for Australia's oldest and largest cotton company.

Queensland Cotton chairman John Reynolds says the two-tier offer could increase by a further 30 cents a share.

Olam ranks amongst the top five global cotton companies and is in all key cotton exporting countries except Australia.
