Top names in fashion, including designer Barbara Lee and leading Italian fashion label GAS will be putting wool over eyes in Christchurch next Friday.
The fashion show is being brought together as part of the 13th World Corriedale Congress, with 150 international delegates among those attending.
Producer Pranay Baidya says the Parisian-themed event is a celebration of New Zealand fashion and an acknowledgement of the importance of our wool.
“We are thrilled that Barbara Lee and GAS Clothing NZ, co-owned by All Black Dan Carter are taking part. They’ll be joined by Canterbury wool garment designer Bev Forrester, Canterbury fashion designer Trudi Fraser and Aimee Reed, who has been chosen as the 13th World Corriedale Congress Emerging Fashion Designer.”
“Leading Swedish/New Zealand make-up company FACE Stockholm is our official make-up sponsor and Portfolio Models & Actors are the official model agency. We have professional models, make-up artists and hair stylists, coordinated by Andhy Blake who has worked with most NZ fashion designers”
The 13th World Corriedale Congress is being held at Lincoln University from 29-31 March. Corriedale breeders and farmers from America, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, South Africa, Peru and New Zealand are attending.
Chairman Arthur Blakely says Congress organisers wanted to celebrate New Zealand fashion and support emerging designers and artists, particularly those keen to use NZ Wool in their collections.
“We think it will add some glamour to our gathering and remind local growers and international guests that mid micron wool is a versatile fabric that is well suited to high fashion. It also reflects where mid micron wool like Corriedale is headed with emerging technology to refine wool and make it even more wearable.”
