The colours may have been sober with grey, olive, mauve and mustard being the ones around which Kiran wove her comic strip based clothes. But the line of ensembles was stylishly eye catching, very wearable and unconventionally combined to present a new fashion statement.
Working around a prominent trapeze, smock and asymmetric silhouette, Kiran brought in little touches with a variety of smaller garments that gave the complete ensembles an interesting touch.
Starting with a grey self designed cotton smock with a glittering yoke, Kiran added a long sleeved chiffon blouse under it making the double sleeve a constant fashion trend for most of her garments.
Her asymmetric layered sheer kurtas with embroidery boleros, the double layered asymmetric kurta with leggings, the long almost floor length Mughal style kameezes with kalidar skirts, the cream printed trapeze dress with shimmering yoke, the deep V gathered kurti inspired by the Rajasthani rural blouse, the mirror work pinafore with large deep armholes worn over knitted pullovers, a multi fabric peasant blouse worn with a sari – the list was a mix of garments that at times went wild but somehow made perfect fashion sense.
Teaming most of the garments whetherlong or short with leggings or rouched churidars, Kiran added ankle warmers; some lovely woollen knitted long ribbed coats and even added a few neckties as belts.
According to Kiran, for lovers of the Archie gang Veronica may be their Valentino but for Kiran it is Big Ethel with all her oddities who is her Etro that has given rise to a truly fun but very wearable and saleable line of Autumn/Winter wear.
