Tribal Culture Society (TCS), Jute Service Centre of Ranchi, and the National Centre for Jute Development (NCJD) jointly organized a 21-day workshop in Jamshedpur that concluded yesterday.
Over 30 tribal women were trained here, in the art of making more than just bags out of jute.
In an attempt to make them self-sufficient, faculty coached these women in the art of making exquisite jute jewelry
TCS official told the media, “We have a year and half training programme in jute handicraft making, but this time we decided to go in for some design diversification so that these women can not only learn a new trade but also earn a living.”
Jute jewelry is attracting great demand from overseas markets like Europe and Spain.
In this eco-friendly era, this art is being valued as one of the safest and greenest products.
