Inditex has been awarded the Global Retailer of the Year award during the first edition of the World Retail Congress. This significant honour acknowledges Inditex’s career as well as the results posted in FY2006 and has been granted in the framework of one of the most relevant meetings of the fashion retail sector, the World Retail Congress.
This event has become the first congress specialising in the retail sector on a global scale. A jury comprised of some of the major worldwide experts in the retail sector has decided to award Inditex this prize.
The award was collected by Ms Lorena Alba Castro, head of Logistics at Inditex, who thanked the jury for acknowledging the effort of the some 70,000 employees of the Group.
The first edition of the World Retail Congress, held in Barcelona, was attended by a total number of one thousand of the most relevant leaders within the retail industry.
More than one hundred lecturers of the major international companies took part in the congress, to help achieve a view of the future of the sector, its strengths and the challenges arising out of the globalization which it has to face.
The congress was organized by Emap, one of the most significant European media group. It publishes, among others, the trade magazine Retail Week, the European reference publication of the textile sector.
