Fashion designer John Galliano angered celebrated photographer William Klein by illegally using his imagery in an advertising campaign.
The court of first instance in Paris said that it use of the photographer’s imagery in the absence of authorization was clearly illegal.
The Christian Dior designer was then ordered to pay 200,000 euros as fine for abusing the photographer’s right of author and for damaging his work by poor re-creations.
Klein said that he was furious, especially since Dior worked aggressively against the replication of its own creations.
