Youth of Glar Commune, which is the poorest community in Dak Doa District, in the central highland province of Gia Lai, are now taking interest in the two-year-old brocade-weaving programme.
A Lung, president of Glar’s Youth Union Association, proposed plans for a weaving club to local authorities of the commune, and started it with a finance of only VND15 million. Teachers and students from different provinces, including Lam Dong, Kon Tum and Dak Lak, arrive here to find new designs and learn modern methods.
The traditional handicraft has helped this poor clan to make an earning for last two years. Membership of this club now has reached to 85 in number and it has an earning of VND1 million per month.
