Planform of Wengyuan Eight-Diagram Enclosed Buildings
In Wengyuan County, Shaoguan City in the north of Guangdong Province, the
Enclosed Buildings are designed according to China'a traditional Eight Diagrams.
With the ancestral temple in the center, all the building group
is like a maze. All the houses are not square but of various
shapes. There are totally 1653 houses and 99 alleys.
Once the gate closed, the enclosed buildings are a solid and
impregnable castle that prevents thieves and robbers from the villagers.
