The White Dragon Pond has a picturesque landscape. Visitors can tour the tranquil mountain path, breathe the fresh air, and listen to the sound of the cool streams. It is a wonderful place for those who want to find a serene harbor away from the clamor of the city. The Residential Pond of the White Dragon, or Bailong Zhentan, earned the area its reputation. Legend has it that a white dragon who was able to bring rainfall to a vast area lived in the deep pond. Local farming benefited greatly from this dragon, so they named the water in his honor in appreciation of the dragon king's blessing. Emperors thought it was a sacred place and temporary palaces for royal families were built here. Many historical relics such as the LongquanTemple, the Bodhisattva Hall, the WulongAncestralTemple, and the Stone Torii can be found here. Valuable steles inscribed by Emperors Qianlong and Jiaqing, as well as poems left by renowned poets are also left here. Ancient cypresses that are as much as 700 years old also add natural beauty to the historical and cultural background.
