Mainland tourists push the development of Taiwan's department stores

Opening tourism to the mainland tourist shows big effect to Taiwan's economy. The turnover of central Taiwan department stores of first half year almost increases 5% to 7%. The mainland tourist consumption takes part of 1% to 2% and increases month by month. The expert said the contribution of mainland tourist to Taiwan's department store turnover of this year will increase to 1.5%, and next year maybe to 2%.

Nowadays the turnover of Taiwan's department store of a year is almost 230 Billion Yuan, and this year because of the mainland tourist, the turnover will reach to 233 Billion Yuan and next year maybe to 235 Billion Yuan.

Sun shichun- the vice general manager of Taiwan Guangsan SOGO Department Store, said that the consumption of mainland tourists will be a big power to the development of Taiwan's department stores.

According to the analysis of expert, most mainland tourists like to buy the luxury goods in Taiwan. As we know, the tax of luxury goods in China is a big cost but in Taiwan is different. Most luxury goods in Taiwan are 15% to 20% cheaper than mainland.

Take example of Taipei's 101 department store, most mainland tourists like to buy some famous brands in there, such as OMEGA, PRADA, LONGINES, CARTIER, LV, GUCCI and so on.
