Iluka announces management changes

Write: Terra [2011-05-20]

Mar. 1, 2010 - Australian zircon producer Iluka on Friday reported that its GM for the western region, Steve Wickham, would also assume responsibility for the Murray Basin region, in the new role of GM of the eastern and western operations. As a result of this organisational change, Peter Beilby, who is currently the GM for the Murray Basin, has elected to resign at a date yet to be determined.

Beilby has been employed with Iluka since 2001. Meanwhile, Hans Umlauff, GM of South Australian development and project management will continue in his current role and will remain focused on the Jacinth-Ambrosia project ramp up, on further major resource discovery and development opportunities in the Eucla Basin and on supporting major project management and execution efforts elsewhere in the company.

"These changes reflect a continuation of the company's evolution to a leaner and more integrated operational base, in which experienced managers of key operational assets report through to a GM with a broad span of control," said company MD David Robb on Friday. Robb added that the location of both Wickham and Umlauff in Adelaide would also facilitate close coordination of the critical, integrated Jacinth-Ambrosia to Narngulu mining and processing value chain.
