Recently, the Proposal for Nuclear Fuel Element Production Line Expansion Project of China Jianzhong Nuclear Fuel Co., Ltd. (CJNF) has been official approved by the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense agreeing on the initiation of the project. The implementation of the project will add 400 tons of uranium per year to the production capacity to meet future needs of the nuclear power development for fuel elements in China.
Through the construction and development during the Tenth and Eleventh Five-year Plans, CJNF had built China's largest production line of PWR fuel elements by the end of 2008 with an output of 400 tons of uranium a year, and had gradually achieved production targets and made leaps and bounds in the manufacturing of nuclear fuel elements. The product quality has reached the international advanced level and won high praise and wide acclaim from domestic and international users. The company s existing list of users include Qinshan NPP Phases I & II, Daya Bay NPP, Ling Ao NPP, Ling Ao NPP Phase II, Pakistan Chashma NPP; It is going to manufacture and provide nuclear fuel elements and related components for Tianwan NPP in Jiangsu, Fangjiashan NPP as an Expansion Project of Qinshan NPP Phase I, Units 3 &4 of Qinshan NPP Phase II, Fuqing and Ningde NPPs in Fujian, Hongyanhe NPP in Liaoning, Changjiang NPP in Hainan and other users in the coming years.
After the Nuclear Fuel Element Production Line Expansion Project of CJNF is completed, the company s output of nuclear fuel elements will double the existing capacity to 800 tons of uranium a year and effectively meet the needs of the rapid development of China's nuclear power, laying a solid foundation for building a world-class nuclear fuel element manufacturing base.
