Xiamen exports 6 tons of tungsten powder to Japan
Xiamen Tungsten Co. Ltd delivered 6 tons of tungsten powder to its Japanese partners who suffered a major shortage of raw materials after the magnitude 9.0 earthquake on March 11, reports Xiamen Evening News.
Tungsten powder, the heaviest element known to be used by any living organism, is used as a nontoxic substitute for lead in bullets, shots, and radiation shields.
"The customs clearance authorization from Xiamen Tungsten was an important one for us (customs brokers). The delivery date for this shipment was in the middle of this year, but the powder was needed urgently by Japanese partners, said Mr. Liu, an operator with customs brokers.
Considering what was happening in Japan, Xiamen Customs offered a speedy customs clearance and thus enabled the tungsten powder to catch a Osaka-bound container ship on the evening of March 18.
