Visio: New Paso LED Light Lifts The Winter Gloom

Lighting specialist Ianiro UK has announced a new professional, portable 100W LED light which boasts output equivalent to 1000w tungsten unit.

Like its sister product, the Minima, the Paso is notable for its user-defined colour temperature control.

The arrival of high-power LEDs is causing a revolution in professional lighting. While earlier LED systems were plagued by an inferior light throw and problems of over-hearing, the new generation is setting new standards in efficiency, longevity and flexibility.

The newest model on the market, the Paso shares the characteristics of all advanced LED lights, such as full dimming control, instant-on, and the benefit of hit restrike. Cool, powerful and with a low power requirement, the Paso is a great example of the huge strides LED lights have made. Manufactured by Visio, the Paso's output is exceptional and its colour fidelity is very high, with a CRI in excess of 90%. The Paso is an ideal replacement for a red head.

However, its stand-out feature is the Paso's colour control. With six temperatures instantly selectable, and each preset fully RGB adjustable, the Paso will save crews the need to buy, carry and fit filters. It will also save editors considerable time in post by reducing the need for colour correction.

Nick Allen-Miles, MD of Ianiro UK, noted: "The Paso is the latest in a really exciting series of LED lights. The unit is very flexible - it will be at home both in the studio and on-location. For any professional needing bright, cool, reliable lighting, the Paso is a god-send. We think it's going to be very popular for lighting interviews or any production that needs fast but highly controlled illumination."

The unit offers excellent value for money, particularly given its built-in DMX control, colour temperature control and expected lifetime of around 22,000 hours. What's more, its cost of ownership is low. The unit's power consumption is a very modest 0.6 amps - the Paso will run off a typical professional battery pack for days - a huge benefit for any team working remotely.

The Paso is being shown for the first time at BVE 2011 at Earls Court.
