Director Wang Xiaoshuai Took a Silver Bear from Berlin

The 58th Berlin International Film Festival was closed on February 17th. The Brazilian action film The Elite Squad won the Best Film Award while the critical favorite There Will Be Blood from Paul Thomas Anderson won two Silver Bears: Best Direction and Best Sound. The Chinese film Zuo You In Love We Trust took the Silver Bear for best screenplay by director and screenwriter Wang Xiaoshuai. It is the director s second Silver Bear award after Beijing Bicycle in 2001.
The film, which took the director two years to finish, depicts a controversial story of a divorced couple who have to stay together for another baby in order to save the life of their daughter diagnosed with leukemia. One of the critical favorites at the film festival, In Love We Trust was also given a special mention by the Ecumenical Jury at the event.
