Sinopec Zhenhai refinery to try heavy crude

Jan. 22, 2010 (China Knowledge) - The Zhenhai Refinery of China Petroleum & Chemical Corp, also known as Sinopec, has started refining Castilla Blend crude oil imported from Columbia, sources reported.
Castilla Blend, a kind of heavy crude oil, has nearly 2% of sulfur content and its air pollution index is 18.8 degrees.
Reportedly, Maoming Petrochemical, a refinery also under Sinopec has tried to refine the heavy oil earlier.
Founded on Sep 20, 1974 and located in Zhenhai District, Ningbo, Zhengjiang Province, the Zhenhai refinery is China s largest refinery and one of Asia s largest refineries in terms of the crude processing capacity. It is mainly engaged in producing and selling various clean gasoline, high-quality diesel oil, liquefied gas, etc.
