Mar. 15, 2010 (China Knowledge) - China Petroleum & Chemical Corp Co<600028><0386><SNP>, which is also known as Sinopec, plans to raise the capacity of its refinery in Luoyang, Henan Province by 25% to 200,800 barrels per day by August to meet the growing demand for fuel oil, said Wei Wenbo, Party secretary of the refinery.
A hydrogeneration refining device with a capacity of 2.6 million tons per year will be installed and start operation in October. The device is expected to help the diesel produced at Luoyang Refinery meet Euro III emission standards.
Henan's demand for product oils increased by 1 million tons annually during the period from 2004 to 2008, and amounted to 10 million tons in 2009, said Wei.
In the first two months of this year, the refinery unit in Luoyang recorded a loss of RMB 250 billion, due to rising crude oil prices.
