Fiji: Prices of Potatoes expected to go down

People can expect more reduction in the price of potatoes from next week. The Chairman of Commerce Commission, Dr Mahendra Reddy said that the prices of potatoes had been reduced two weeks ago however they are working on a new price which can be expected by next week. The price of potato and onion went down by 13 to 24 percent effective on 22nd February and the decision was based on new submissions received from the suppliers and an independent costing by the Commission.
The prices of Potatoes and Onions now range from $1.90 to $2.22 a kilogram. Meanwhile, Dr Reddy said a major exporter from New Zealand named Turners and Growers will have his office in Suva and will be wholesaling fresh products from this month.
