(Zang Zhuomei, messenger from the agency) The opening ceremony of the summer camp of Classic Tour of the Ming Culture in Nanjing was held in the hall of the Ming Tomb Museum at 9 am on July 8, 2010. The two-day summer camp was jointly sponsored by Department of Tourist Management of Nanjing Institute of Industry and Technology and Department of Foreign Languages of Yingtian College, putting a perfect full-end to the Ming Tomb Cultural Festival.
The relics of the Ming culture are the most numerous and most intact among ancient historical and cultural relics in Nanjing. Getting to know the Ming culture in Nanjing has an important significance on the understanding of the development of venation patterns of the history and culture of Nanjing city as a capital for ten dynasties. Activities of the summer camp were intended to enable teenagers to have a deep understanding of the history and culture of their city and cultivate their love for the city through organizing them to visit the most typical relics of the Ming culture in Nanjing such as the Ming Tomb, City Wall of the Ming Dynasty as well as Zheng He s Tomb. After the summer camp, attendees will participate in a prize essay contest to write about their reflections and feelings in the process of visit.
At the opening ceremony, representatives of the summer camp attendees spoke about their longing for the tour and exploration into the Ming culture in Nanjing and hoping to have a better understanding of the history and culture of their city through the activities carried out by the summer camp. Then, summer camp attendees signed for the support to The bid of Dr. Sun Yet-sen s Mausoleum for dual-world heritages , conveying their support to the protection and development of cultural relics in Nanjing through their action.
