ON 3 March, "Four Seasons Shanghai" Travel Consumer Information Spring Press Conference was held at the Hyatt on the Bund Hotel. The release of Shanghai`s tourism information for the first quarter laid the foundation and set the tone for the World Expo 2010 Tourism Market outlook for the year.
The most notable and eagerly anticipated news item for this Spring is the collective unveiling of the new landmarks and attractions for the World Expo: namely the refurbished Suzhou River with the "Bund" as its core, Wujiaochang Science Park, Da Shijie, Hongqiao transport hub, etc.
The most notable of those is the Bund, a symbol of Shanghai`s cultural and economic history. Since the founding of the People`s Republic of China, it has undertone three reformations, and the newly transformed Bund has, space-wise, dramatically changed the urban morphology of Shanghai, and represents the most concentrated area for tourism as it embodies a classic Shanghai both old and new.
